A Love Letter to the Masculine

To the Masculine,
I see you.
Not just your strength.
Not just what you provide.
Not just the armor you learned to wear.
I see you.
I see the tenderness beneath it all.
Thank you for allowing me to witness you in your vulnerability. For sharing your joys, your fears, your desires, your heartaches, your love, your dreams, and the things you may not have words for yet.
Thank you for trusting me enough to soften.
For letting the tears come.
For allowing me to hold your face, kiss your cheeks, and lovingly slurp up those tears as they fall. There is something so sacred to me about being trusted with a man’s tenderness—about being invited into the places that perhaps the rest of the world doesn’t always get to see.
I don’t take that privilege lightly.
I am deeply honored.
And to the young men in my life—my sons and their friends—I see you too.
Thank you for loving me. For respecting me. For cooking for me and trying your best to keep the house clean. For lifting the heavy things, carrying in the groceries, calling me “Miss,” looking out for me, and rolling me a joint or spliff after I’ve had a long-ass day.
I notice those things.
But even more than what you do for me, I love witnessing how you show up for each other.
I love watching you care for yourselves and one another. I love seeing your friendships, your laughter, your loyalty, your softness, and the ways you are learning that loving another man openly does not make you less masculine.
I get to watch you become men.
What an honor that is.
And to the men who love me…
Thank you for spoiling me.
For the acts of service, the thoughtful gifts, the food, the vacations, the chivalry, the experiences, the doors opened, the things carried, and all the little ways you quietly say, Let me take care of you.
Thank you for holding me when I’m tired.
For holding me when I’m sad.
For giving me somewhere to soften when I’ve spent so much of my life being strong.
Thank you for understanding that sometimes I am moody, sometimes I am quiet, sometimes I need space, and sometimes I simply want to be held without having to explain myself.
Thank you for not making every emotion about you.
Thank you for reminding me that I don’t always have to carry everything alone.
And to my clients…
Some of you have trusted me for years.
You’ve allowed me to witness parts of you that perhaps very few people ever will. You’ve trusted me with your bodies, your fantasies, your shame, your pleasure, your surrender, your vulnerability, and your evolution.
You’ve grown with me as I’ve grown.
You’ve allowed me to love on you in ways that are uniquely mine.
You’ve invested in my work, my creativity, my wellness, my happiness, and this beautiful life I continue to create.
And yes… you’ve graciously given my inner sadist somewhere to come out and play.
For that, she is very grateful. 😈
There is so much conversation right now about the divide between the masculine and feminine. About men versus women. About who hurt whom. About who should lead, who should soften, who should provide, who should surrender.
But when I look around my own life, I don’t see a war.
I see men learning how to feel.
I see men learning how to communicate.
I see men who can be powerful without needing to dominate every room.
I see men who protect without possessing.
Men who provide without keeping score.
Men who cry.
Men who love other men.
Men who are learning to embrace the feminine within themselves without believing it diminishes their masculinity.
Men who can hold both.
Strength and softness.
Power and tenderness.
Protection and vulnerability.
And I am so incredibly grateful that these are the men surrounding me.
Because the masculine I know isn’t something I fear.
It is something I can soften beside.
Something I can surrender around.
Something I can laugh with, play with, challenge, nurture, tease, adore, worship…and occasionally torture. 😉
So, to the masculine:
I see you.
I appreciate you.
I honor you.
Thank you for trusting me with your softness.
Thank you for making room for mine.
Thank you for reminding me that masculinity can feel safe, tender, generous, protective, vulnerable, playful, and deeply loving.
And thank you for showing me that perhaps the masculine and feminine were never meant to be at war.
Maybe we were always meant to remember how beautifully we can hold one another.
I love you.
